Development of a novel and usable web-based platform for cardiovascular risk estimation based on Artificial Intelligence (EUCARDIA), NSRF 2014–2020 (European Social Fund – ESF / European Regional Development Fund – ERDF), ΓΓ1CL-0058514 & ΓΓ2CL-0353180
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of mortality worldwide, with a serious social and economic impact. The biggest challenge in managing CVDs is identifying people at high risk of developing CVDs, as most heart attacks (fatal or non-fatal) occur in people without known CVD. With the aim of correct classification and early identification of individuals at increased risk of a cardiovascular event, various mathematical models have been developed in recent years to estimate the risk of CVD (cardiovascular disease) using cardiovascular risk scores. However, these statistical models appear to be subject to methodological limitations, which can lead to underestimation or overestimation of cardiovascular risk in several cases. Thus, there is a need to develop new methodologies to optimize cardiovascular risk prediction models.
The aim of the EUCARDIA project is the design, development and implementation of an innovative online platform for personalized CVD risk prediction for the Greek population based on artificial intelligence (AI) models. The platform will be easy to use, fully customizable and compatible with any software.
