Development of an AI-based diagnostic tool for Personalized patient’s risk stratification in CARdiovascular Disease- PAI-CARDIA

The P-CARDIA project aims to develop an innovative diagnostic tool based on Artificial Intelligence models for personalized risk stratification in CVD patients using cutting-edge technologies and advanced imaging methods. The risk assessment algorithm will be fed with multidisciplinary data: haematological biomarkers, vascular risk factors, medical imaging, in vivo measurements, and demographic characteristics to provide the patient’s personalized specific risk. In addition, the above data will be correlated with molecular imaging data for a multidimensional approach to cardiovascular disease.

Specifically, the objectives of the proposed plan are:

• The implementation of an integrated approach to assessing the severity of atherosclerosis by identifying imaging biomarkers in combination with spectroscopic markers.

• The validation of the algorithm through rigorous prospective monitoring for the evaluation of the risk of recurrent stroke or other vascular events.

The ultimate goals of this study are:

• The development of personalized management and treatment for each patient according to their individual profile.

• The prevention of under-treatment or over-treatment of the patient.

• The promotion of interdisciplinary collaboration among research fields — medicine, medical physics, and applied physics — which will advance innovative research in Greece.
