Elisah

The ELISAH project  aims to reduce the burden of breast cancer inEurope by targeting modifiable risk factors such as pollution, nutrition, physical inactivity, alcohol, tobacco, and the built environment. Since 90–95% of breast cancer cases are linkedto lifestyle and environmental conditions rather than genetics, ELISAH adopts a holistic, multi- directional approach that combines structural interventions with individual health promotion, while addressing the needs of vulnerable populations.

The project has two pillars: a Europe-wide and high-definition gap analysis of breast cancer risk factors, national cancer plans, and urban environments, and a set of innovative, replicable interventions—including a web-based lifestyle tool, awareness and screening programs for displaced populations in Ukraine, and urban actions to promote healthier living. Supported by a multidisciplinary consortium of researchers, clinicians, and public health experts, ELISAH contributes to Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan by advancing prevention strategies tailored to local contexts.
